School desks for very tall primary school pupils

My DD is 5'3" she will be at least 5'6" by the end of YR6. How do I know, because so far she's copied my height as a girl. She's complaining of a bad back due to her titchy table/chair. I plan to engage the school on the point and offer to organise fundraisers. I could get her her own adjustable desk but I don't think that's how it works (unless anyone knows different). Does anyone know of any relevant regulations, case law, have any relevant information or experience? There are others of a similar height at school, all girls (it is co-ed state school but the point is, it is the girls that tend to rocket skywards first) so it would be best to do something about it for everyone and pupils down the line too.

You have asked the school and are awaiting their response?
Seems like a total over-reaction and drama to be considering fundraising and forming parental groups at this stage.

Again I work in EYFS where the chairs and tables are fit for 4 year olds and they are fine to work on for an adult and I have done for years because I sit correctly.

I'm 5 foot and can't get my knees under the tables we use in reception!

As for the chairs! With arthritis I find getting up and down with the chairs used (standard YPO/school supply stores) for reception, year 1 and year 2 difficult.

I know about how to sit correctly etc but ours really are quite small.

No idea how anyone taller would physically fit their legs under whilst spitting in a chair.

Fwiw I'm fine on the odd time I've used the tables and chairs in the nearby juniors. But they're substantially bigger.

Have you looked at school furniture suppliers? They're pretty much standard offering a range of table sizes according to school year so you are very unlikely to find vast differences across the country

Yes and having been a tall child and seen four of them through the education system I'm aware that schools can offer different sizes. My response was to the poster who apparently thinks children should just bend themselves to the furniture and that as an adult the desks in reception are plenty big enough for them.

The OPs child isn't exceptionally tall and it's a quite simple matter to ask the teacher if they can have a bigger table from one of the other classes, however I'd probably look at her posture and the height of the chair as the cause rather than table height

The difference doesn't need to be much - a few centimetres is all that is needed quite often to make a significant difference. I agree that posture and chair height matter but I've never seen adjustable chairs in primary schools (in the state sector at least). The problem is that children with softer ligaments and bones are more likely to mould their bodies to the furniture and set up problems for the future. Tall and small children are most likely to need to do this.

The OP is right to be concerned about this and should not be dismissed by posters with the "I'm alright jack" argument.

Many state schools provide posture chairs for pupils

The child is not tall though so no need to bend into desks of which I did not say.

Thanks for the discussion and the suggestions. There are no taller desks in the school. The teacher stated in all their years in YR6 it had never been raised before. It was acknowledged that the largest desks aren't tall enough and the school are going to get the leg raisers kindly suggested by someone 'up post'. My DD has followed my lead with a long body and short legs which means she hunches over desks more.
For someone saying what an overreaction re parent support groups/funding-the head teacher has a reputation for not listening/acting on anything including their own governors. This caused all sorts of hullabaloo last academic year.
