Uxbridge school inquiry - John Locke Academy and secondary

Hi, I am moving to Uxbridge soon because of my husband's relocation, and found out John Locke Academy has vacancy for year 6 student which I need for DD.
Anybody has any idea for this school ? It's a outstanding school, but there is no KS2 exam result available on locrating as this is the 1st year 6 it seems, and I want to know other parents' opinions on the school, except Ofsted report and all. DD is very academic, but we missed 11+ registration as our original plan was to leave the country after year 5 , now I am not sure which secondary she can go to if we move to Uxbridge. Swakeleys girls looks good, but we plan to live near the station (looking into Deblin drive now), will it be difficult to get into if we dont live near the school? Any thought, please let me know. Thank you all!

My friend’s son goes to John Locke he is in year 5. He loves it. I can’t advise about secondary schools.

Dd's have had 1 or 2 incomers from John Locke to their school but as far as I am aware from current parents they are very happy with the school.
In terms of secondary Swakeleys operates a fair banding admissions criteria so you need to fill in a form and take a test and then they take equal numbers of each ability. The info's on the Hillingdon website.
If I were moving into the area now with applications due 31st Oct I assume renting - i would move close to Vyners. Intake area is increasingly small (you can see previous years map on their website and Deblin Drive would likely be outside) but it's the school that gets best academic results in the area. Open days are starting next week

DC went to Charville which was a fantastic school. They thrived there. It is just down the road from Swakeleys and the vast majority of girls from Charville go there so DD would get to know a good few before starting.

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it. So John Locke looks fine at least :) I checked, Deblin Drive is out of Vyners catchment. And no house available near the Vyners at the moment, sigh. So she might get into Swakeleys, but there is no guarantee if they take equal numbers of each ability. It is a bit of random, I think ? I will look into their admission policy more carefully... and nearest secondarys from Deblin drive are Uxbridge high and Bishopshalt, they doesn't look too good based no their academic results... but anything positive you heard about those school ?

When we were there a few years ago Bishopsholt was ‘nicer’ than Uxbridge high. We used to live close to one and walk past the other on our way to Charville. The Bishopsholt kids, on the whole, appeared calmer. Grin I hope that helps.

Bishopshalt has the better reputation is supposed to be very hot on discipline but also quite small radius distance to get in.

Uxbridge High is supposed to be rapidly improving with the new head and i know a couple of people with children there who are very happy with it.
Dd1 & I are about to start doing open evenings to figure out preferences so that it's personal feel not just hearsay.

Oh so your daughter is year 6 too :) Can I ask which school is she in ? (if it’s not too much) Thanks a lot for your comment, so now I know, if she can not get in Swakelys or Vyners, Uxbridge high or bishopshault wouldn’t be bad either. I will just have to chose 3 of them.. I wish i could join for parents’evening too, but I will have to see as we are living 2 hours away at the moment.. anyway, I really appreciate all your comments, it helps a lot :) Have a nice day.
