We are in brum and they were all going to London to the Tutankhamun exhibition.

They left school on the coach at 7am and got stuck on the motorway due to an accident, and didn't arrive in London until just before 1pm.

They were supposed to be back at 6:30 but now they are saying 8pm.

Actually poor teachers too, coach full of 7/8 yr olds who are bored, not my idea of fun LOL

nightmare!

hope the bus has a loo...............................

nutcracker · 29/11/2007 17:38

Yeah i think it does....god I hope it does.

It had a tv apparently, so must have a loo.

Such a shame, as they were all so excited, but had to really rush around the exhibition, have a quick look in the shop and come home.
They had aplanned to do a bit of sight seeing too, but have had to cancel that.

What a shame. I once helped take a kids group to a zoo...except the coach broke down and we didn't get there at all. IIRC they were suprisingly good humoured about it.

I hope that between them they knew some good songs.

Thinking about it the one I feel REALLY sorry for is the coach driver!

nutcracker · 29/11/2007 19:24

They are in Oxford now, and have to change drivers as the current one has now been driving for too long.

I bet they are all really grumpy.

Just had another call, they are not expecting them back now until 9pm.

DD2 has been up since 6.

blimey that is long. my ds(14) went to france for a day trip yesterday and was back by nine.

nutcracker · 29/11/2007 20:02

Yeah originally they sent a letter out asking parents opinions on wether it should be a day trip or for them to stay overnight.

Most parents though hated the idea of them staying overnight, and a hostel couldn't be found close enough anyway, so they went for the day.

Am rather glad I sent dd with half a shop to eat now.

does she have school tomorrow, i know there are alot of inset days at the moment.

nutcracker · 29/11/2007 20:08

Nope, school as normal as far as I know.

I bet the head is either late or not to be seen tommorow though

nutcracker · 29/11/2007 20:23

OMG, there isn't a toilet on the coach.

One of the mums has just had a call to say that her son has had to be stripped off because he has messed himself.

But what idiot sends a class full of 7/8 yr olds on such a long trip with no loo on the coach ?

I wouldn't want to go that far without a loo and i am 29.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 29/11/2007 20:28

Tbh I think i will be keeping dd off tommorow.

Mercy · 29/11/2007 20:30

Bonkers imo.

Far too long a trip for that age group.

nutcracker · 29/11/2007 20:31

I didn't mind about the length of the trip tbh, and expected the delay home, but not this long and I think not having a coach with a loo is just plain stupid.

A tv but no loo.

nutcracker · 29/11/2007 20:54

Am gettin a bit stressed about it now.

Dd has isues about me thinking i am leaving her or her leaving me at the mo, and she will probably be thikning she will never see me again.

OP posts:
southeastastra · 29/11/2007 21:14

do you know where they are now?

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 29/11/2007 21:25

What a ridiculous plan, to take a class of 7/8 years old somewhere that far away! We only live 12 miles out of London and our trips are rarely to London, because it take so long to get there!

That poor lad who's had an accident too! He must be so embarrassed. I'm sure they'll be some mums having a word tomorrow.

ineedapoo · 29/11/2007 21:31

Poor kids I bet they are tired, grumpy and fed up. Hope none of them are travel sick

nutcracker · 29/11/2007 21:34

She is finally home and in bed. She looks like she hasn't slept for a week, but seemed ok.

Someone was sick and obviously as there was no loo or water, they couldn't clean them up until the next loo stop.

She said she hasn't had a drink for hours, she said the teachers brought some water but would only let them have a sip if they felt sick.

She said the exhibition was ok, but that she didn't have time to look properly in the shop so didn't buy anything. Have told her she can keep it anyway.

I nearly had a heart attack as a few min before she got back, 2 police cars pulled up outdside my door, but thankfully they were going to next door.

Trying to decide wether to complain or not.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 29/11/2007 21:35

Those who's parents gave permission (i did) were given a travel sickness tablet before they went.

ineedapoo · 29/11/2007 21:36

LIZS · 29/11/2007 21:38

Hope she got something out of her day . Bet she's drained though . How stressful all round.
