Can granny step in and go to one or your dh/dp ?

MrsCarrot · 29/11/2007 15:33

If you have to choose I would definitely go to the school one, especially as your DD is practising. She's more likely to remember it and it would probably mean a lot to her that you made the decision to see her play.

What a annoying situation. I would just explain to the nursery staff, I'm sure they'll understand.

gran lives 100 miles away and works

OMG NP how awful. Sophies Choice! Are there other parents in the same position with kids at both schools? If so perhaps you could lobby for a slight change in time so you could make both of them. This is an impossible situation and they really should co-ordinate.

oliveoil · 29/11/2007 15:35

I would go for dd1

but grrrr at clash

MrsCarrot · 29/11/2007 15:36

it is awful, but you will have the school one to go to when your littlest starts and that's the one you'll remember/make towel head dresses for and so on.

oliveoil · 29/11/2007 15:37

any chance of them changing the times? even by half an hour?

are they near each other? (my playgroup and school share a playground)

oliveoil · 29/11/2007 15:38

I would lobby for time change

working parents would have booked time off anyway - am/pm and a slight change would not make a difference would it?

I wouldn't mind if my nativity was changed in this way, as long as you get notice in advance

dd2 goes to the private nursery attached to dhs work - its 20mins drive away

i might get dh to sneak out of his office and go to nursery one. its 30 seconds walk.

I'd go to school one too but be v upset about missing the nursery one. But as others have wisely said it's likely to bother dd1 more if you miss hers...

MrsCarrot · 29/11/2007 15:40

would be pretty crap if they minded him seeing his childs nativity play for half an hour or whatever

Spidermama · 29/11/2007 15:42

No question about it. DH has to go.

nailpolish · 29/11/2007 15:42

yes dd1 would be very hurt if i didnt go to hers

the nursery were toiling for helpers, i am not looking forward to telling them. and allthe other parents will look down theirnoses cos i wasnt there. i hope dh can go

OP posts:
fryalot · 29/11/2007 15:43

go to dd1's

insist dh goes to dd2's

funnypeculiar · 29/11/2007 15:45

Agree with eveyone else - dd1 will be 100% more hurt. And if your dh can make it to dd2s (what spirit of humbug would deny a father seeing his daughters nativity) you should be sorted. And nursery staff will totoally understand, I would have thought.
Completely pants though. Are either of them videoed/could you video? You could also stage a post-productions session for all the family to sit & watch both of them complete with pop-corn

MrsCarrot · 29/11/2007 15:45

better they look down their noses than upset your dd1. There's always a snooty set at nursery, take no notice.

nailpolish · 29/11/2007 15:47

oh funnypeculiar thats a great idea
i think the nursery will video it - possibly - unless there are objections

OP posts:
nailpolish · 29/11/2007 15:51

dh says he will go

with popcorn and camera
