PE Shoes

I'm not from the UK so this is a bit odd to me... what's the deal with PE shoes? I've only seen them in the supermarkets so I'm wondering if you can get better ones? If so, which brands? I appreciate my DS won't wear them much but they don't seem very supportive for growing feet. I'm a bit of a shoe snob and like to spend a bit more on good quality shoes that support the feet.

I buy Decathlon's cheapest tennis shoes for PE, basically same price as plimsolls but much more like trainers.

I'd always had the ones that cost £3 ish. Worn for indoor PE for like 30min and outdoor PE maybe an hour if dry.
No worse than bare feet play. And yes they get replaced and passed on as hand me downs a lot as barely worn really

Thanks for all the advice. Sounds like they won't get much wear.

I hate plimsolls. Mine had trainers from reception but the school did sport outside. If they’re farting about in a hall doing movement or something they’ll be fine barefoot or in plimsolls. If they’re doing anything outside trainers would be much better.
