Churchfields Junior School or Wells Primary?

Hello everyone.
We're moving to Woodford Green and need to apply for primary school for our DS & DD.

Does anyone have children in either Churchfields Junior School in South Woodford or Wells Primary School in Woodford Green?

We just want to know which is the better school before we start the application form.

Cheers

You will need to check out the catchment areas for both of these school, they are very small! (Less than half a km iirc)

There is nowhere in the area where you would fall in the catchment for both schools unless your children meet the priority admission criteria.

Wow. Ok thanks for the info. I will have to find a way of directly speaking to someone in Redbridge council then because their website doesn't show what the catchment area of each school is.

Churchfields catchment is extremely small.. You'd be very lucky to get in there. St Anthony's is a very, very good school.. It's a Catholic school though it i remember rightly.

It will depend on which school in the borough has space - it could be that neither school has space in the year you want, but you may get lucky.

Both schools have excellent reputations though so I think either would be fine.

(Presumably you're talking about an in year application i.e. they're already at school or starting in september - you're not applying for reception 2022?)

Thanks for all the replies. This info is v.helpful. Yes @blueskyemily it will be in school transfers as DS is in year 4 and DD year 1 - so ideally I would love for them to start in sept.

So you would need to apply for the infant's if choosing Churchfields for your youngest.

I'm going get on to all of this today

I have put two children through Wells Primary and it is absolutely fantastic. Utterly delighted with it. The youngest will have their last day there tomorrow and I will be crying a lot.
I agree with everything said about catchments, both are small - much less than a mile. If you go to the Redbridge admissions site and look at the primary admissions booklet it has a page at the back that tells you the furthest child accepted in reception the previous year. Although strictly speaking Redbridge doesn't have catchment areas - they accept on distance.
Do you know where you are moving? It'll be really easy to work out which was your closest school. Worth finding out the waiting list for each and where you'd place on your new address.

@newmum0808 that's not that relevant to the OP though? She's looking for an in year transfer.

I know redbridge schools are oversubscribed but places do come up sometimes when people move.

Sorry I totally missed your post above, ignore me 🙈 I thought you'd only posted that doc with no context. Sorry!

Thank you all for the advice. Yes, I've been told that I have to apply for them in August and it's all based on which schools have spaces, not even necessarily how close you live to the school, because the nearest school might not have any space. So we just have to wait and see.
