Few 'developing' marks on primary report

Just got my child's report and there are a few 'developing' marks, as well as lots of expected ones. Should I worry about these few under-average ones? Or do you think it's quite normal

Depends on year group and subject for me.
My dc y4 got not met in pe and im not worried about that.
More about reading/writing or maths

And whether they were out of school during lockdowns etc.

What year is your child in? How does this year's report compare with previous reports?

Lockdowns and bubble closures have disrupted the year's learning, so many children will have made a little less progress than would normally be expected.

If your child is in Reception, when is his/her birthday, as that can make quite a difference at this age, as your child may only just have turned 5, or not quite, in which case they're barely at the age where you'd expect them to meet all the expectations. In any case, you can find the early years framework online and look at the requirements for each of the areas in which your child has been marked as 'developing'. You might be able to work on some of these over the summer - many of them are about communication, social skills, physical skills.

Depends what it’s for. If it was English and maths I’d ask the school if there’s any action you need to take, if it’s more minor I whisk t worry. We had a few developing which have since disappeared

About 1/3 of summer borns dont meet end of reception expectations.
This makes it sound not too bad if they dont meet them. However it is still unfortunately an issue as the targets of all years are also based on the eldest. Some of the youngest catch up others dont

I wouldn't worry unless it's completely out of character, eg they were exceeding expectations in that subject last year.

Bootskates · 20/07/2021 22:41

Are they core subjects? Or other?

I think things like art and music (as well as being something some people just don't have the knack for- like me!) Fell by the wayside a little as schools tried to make up for lost learning in reading/writing/maths over lockdown

HSHorror · 20/07/2021 23:21

Boots thats what we did at home focussed on maths reading and writing.
Dc bot met everything. A friend didnt do the maths and technically dc got met however im pretty sure the teacher hasnt yet realised they dont know how to do the jan to mar maths which is concerning. Dc however ended up exceeding other subjects as effort was put in there. It's silly really as the kids levels are going to be all over the place.

Maybe i should hope they do a 'test' to identify gaps
