Class Dojo

Hi
I may be over reacting however after the news that 5 more teachers are leaving my ds school as well as 4 previously since easter 2021 i commented on class dojo saying i was very concerned. Nothing else. I mean i had plenty to say but thats all i sent. My comment was deleted and the head teacher sent a message saying we should discuss my public comment. Only 1 other parent commented thanking the head for his transparency (what a joke) this comment is still there. I have re submitted my comment adding it was deleted. I also responded to the head informing him i am available to chat. I also sent the school office a message stating that i feel disrespected that my commwnt was deleted and its hypocrisy. The head has a way with words (think russell brand) and i nearly always left perplexed. Do i speak to him? Or ask for him to email me? Am i right to be questioning why my comment was deleted. Yes it is negative but so is the situation and it seems to be getting worse. The school is really struggling and its due to him. My hs thinks i am over reacting but is also worried. Any suggestions or reasoning would be appreciated. Thank you

From your other thread I do think you have good reason to be concerned. However I would focus on the actual issue and not whether or not your comment was deleted from the dojo. Most schools ae very cautious about this kind of thing and the class dojo is never going to be a place which hosts public critisim of the school.

I agree that you should be concerned about 9 teachers leaving the school in a single year. Depending upon the size of the school this can be a significant percentage of the staff. Schools don't like negative comments on social media where they may be picked up by Ofsted so I wouldn't focus on this but on the reason for your concern.

Social media is not an appropriate forum. Ever. That's what governing bodies and complaints procedures are for. Our primary is huge so 9 teachers would be normal. But in a one form school it would be very alarming.

Our head is the same, school is rapidly going downhill teachers and children leaving, so many children have left that they've had to combine year groups and make teachers redundant since Christmas, the comments have been turned off on our class dojo because people questioned what was going on.

I don't think Dojo is an appropriate channel for that kind of comment tbh so I'm not surprised it was deleted.

Our Dojo, whilst you can technically comment on the messages cascaded from the school, is still very much an 'official' school channel. The only comments parents make on updates is along the lines of thanks, good to know etc.

If it was a message of a concern directed to the school/head then it should have been emailed privately. If it was aimed at the community in a 'oh my goodness guys, what's going on' type way - that's what a parents what'sapp group is for, to chat away from the eyes of the school and teachers.

@Thegreymethod in some areas pupil numbers are massively down. Brexit, Covid and other things. In our area for the first time in 15 years are all undersubscribed
