Appeal Time limit?

Anyone heard of an appeal hearing been given a time limit?
I have received the date for my appeal and the letter states I have 25Mins via zoom video for the appeal.
Are they allowed to stipulate such a time constraint? I want to keep it short and concise but feel nervous that they will be trying to rush through my hearing.
I’ve looked through the admissions appeal code but can’t find anything specific about timings.

Good luck to anyone else appealing before Sept.

There isn't anything specific about length, and I don't suppose anyone will try to cut you off. However, if you are one of several appeals on a day, there needs to be a timetable, especially with people waiting to come in on zoom for their meeting.

Is it 25 mins for the whole appeal or just for your statement? If the latter, that should be plenty! The panel will have read all your submissions already so you don't need to go through them all one by one.

The LA panel I present to always asks the parents if they have had enough time and if they have told them everything they want to tell them and their answers noted by the clerk. This is because they once had a complaint to the Ombudsman that the parents didn't feel that they had enough time.

I've done several appeals where it has run over time and the next parent is contacted to move their back a bit. There is normally a gap between our appeals of between 15 and 30 minutes to account for appeals that take longer.

I believe it is 25 mins for the whole appeal. The letter states the clerk will contact me first, I presume they will clarify.

Hopefully I can get all my points across without feeling rushed. I will kick myself if I come away thinking I’ve missed out something important.

@PatriciaHolm @Charmatt I’ll try keep it brief. 25 mins will have to do! It must be annoying for a panel when timings go completely off track.

Do not feel pressurised over this. Yes you should be able to present your case in 25 minutes, especially if this does not include the initial decisions about whether the school have met their case to not admit. However if it takes longer it takes longer and the panel should be completely OK with a slightly extended time frame. As others have said best practice by the Chair of the Panel is to ask as final question whether you have said everything that you want to say. If you say yes then you cannot realistically then appeal to the Ombudsman about being pressurised. So if you do not feel that you have said everything and they are cutting you off, you must say I do not feel that I have been given sufficient time to make my case. Any panel with half a brain is going to then allow you to continue as long as it is all relevant to the appeal and you do not make it into a marathon.
