Appeal help

Hello,
We are appealing a school place for my daughter. Appeal date has been set & all documents have been submitted. We have been offered another school through waiting list now. We prefer to continue with the appeal. Does this change the appeal or does the appeal continue as before? Thank you.

Your appeal continues as before. If you prefer the school you have now been offered to the one you originally got, accept the offer though - it doesn't affect your appeal and then at least you have it if you lose.

As PP said - it makes no difference to your appeal. You can accept, or not, up to you, either way you can still appeal. If it would be preferable to your current allocation, do accept.

Thank you both so much for your reply. What about the appeal content though? As the appeal is about how the preferred school is suitable for my daughter while the initially offered one is not. Does the appeal go on as if nothing has changed?

I would recommend tailoring your appeal so that you can show that your daughter will still be disadvantaged if she goes to the newly offered school as opposed to the school you want.

My grandson has been refused his first choice of primary school and we are appealing this decision and the dates set. Can anyone help with what would be classed as exceptional circumstances to reverse the decision?

I would suggest starting your own thread, Kk65. If you include appeals in the title, there are some very helpful posters around.

Much will depend on whether it come under infant class size rules, and the reason for not getting a place.

@Kk65 As EduCated says, it depends if this comes under infant class size rules. Most Reception appeals are infant class size cases. That means you can only win if you can show that there has been a mistake in the process which cost your grandson a place.

If it is not an infant class size case it will be easier to win as you only need to show that the disadvantage to your grandson from not being admitted outweighs any problems the school will face from having to cope with an additional pupils.
