Non-selective schools in London with great pastoral care

We are considering moving within London, but thinking we’ll use schools as a starting point.

Can anyone recommend some non-selective day schools in London that prioritise happiness and fantastic pastoral care over pressurised, formal learning?

There are lots of schools like that. Do you want co-ed / single sex? Are you looking for a prep or through school.

Also, where do you need to commute to for work?

Definitely coed, an all-the-way-through-school would be good but would look at just prep also if it was just right!

We’re not focused on high marks, but on school enjoyment and somewhere that feels wholesome.

Commuting into central (Oxford Circus ish for DH, but he’s wfh at the moment), but for quality of life outside of work, we’re willing to consider anywhere lovely in London!

I can recommend Dulwich as a lovely family friendly area. Rosemead, which is in West Dulwich is a mixed ability prep that nurtures the whole child. You can commute into Victoria pretty quickly for work (15 min) and its a quick to Oxford Circus from there. Happy to talk a bit more via PM.

Thank you, southlondon! I will check that school out, and Dulwich!

Hill House? And all the Thomas schools. They are happy schools and still get good results?

Not sure if you are considering private as an option, anyway our bilingual school mirrors exactly what you are looking for. The approach is developed starting from Reggio Emilia's pedagogy, and I can really see how much kids wellbeing is in the focus of the pastoral care. Additionally, a bicurricular school in a real opportunity for a kid! The location is amazing, nearby Holland park. www.sial.school

@SouthLondonMommy Do you mind if I highjack the convo to ask you more info on Rosemead? I just moved to the area and am looking at both Rosemead and Oakfield for my 3yo daughter. We will potentially apply to JAGs and Alleyns but for this September I would like to consider that she could stay at either Rosemead or Oakfield until 11+... Anyway, do you have a child at Rosemead? I have struggled finding much other mom's feedback on the school (online). Have been finding loads on Oakfield though.

@Akoulina I've sent you a PM
