Hi ladies,

I'm considering moving my kid to Colfe. Her current school is brilliant but small and she misses more space and facilities. Colfe sounds great but I would appreciate any 1st hand experience from mums and I would be particularly interested in their pastoral care. Any info is appreciated:)

do you mean Colfe's School in Lee?

have you been to look round? huge site, smaller classes and focus on pastoral care. admissions are increasingly competitive though and if you're trying to get in outside the main entry points you might have to wait.

Yes, this is the one. We have an admission offer. :) We are considering what to do atm. :)

Ah ok - only you know if it's the right school for your kid - I think tour's can happen now?

One major thing to consider with Colfes is whether you want your dc to stay there for secondary. If you do, it's 99% guaranteed you have a place. If you don't, then Colfes won't help prepare your kid for any external assessments.

Thank you :) I have no idea about secondary yet I also heard they won't prep them for exams which worries me but then if we go the grammar school route I have a feeling we will need a tutor anyway.

Can I ask for which year entry your child got an offer for? We were thinking of changing our child for year 5 entry this September as they had one space and depending if he passes the assessment.

Hello All,
I am looking for some opinion on how is Colfe's Junior school in terms of personal attention (smaller class sizes), pastoral care and general school atmosphere. We have been offered a place for DC at nursery and are considering Colfe school vs some other independent schools in southeast and east e.g. Faraday Prep school, Chigwell School, Heath house Prep school.
Our child is bit sensitive and shy in larger group of kids though easily connects with adults. He is very eager to learn new things and is a quick learner (feedback got from his current nursery). In this context we would also appreciate your thoughts on weather a smaller Prep school would be better vs a bigger setting /all through school ? many thanks

Have you considered St Olaves Prep?

Thanks, no haven't seen St Olaves Prep yet .. Going though its webpage now.
Have you made up your mind for moving your kid to Colfe?

Vivi0120 · 25/06/2021 14:24

Yes, we are not moving for now. We decided that Colfe is better for lager stages so we will rethink around 1 or 2 years time.

Great, Wish you good luck with your decision.
please do share if have come across any positives or negatives on Colfe during your research. Many thanks !

Hi @Art22 ! Im making the same decision now for my son, I’d love to benefit from your thought process here. HH looks lovely and all the kids are very well turned out and they prep robustly for secondary school, Colfes is totally different and I’ve heard good things too but generally for kids who want to stay the whole way. Would love to hear what you have learnt too!
