When to start buying uniform for September?

My DD is due to start reception in September, she grows very slowly.

When is the best time to start buying uniform? Is now too early?

Earlier the better,

I don't know if marks and spencer had their uniform sale this year. June is nearly over!

I have moral objections to paying £4.50 for a cheap T-shirt for PE!

No, I wouldn’t bother. Just go for winter uniform. It’s unlikely to be summery for more than the odd day.

Is it worth buying summer dresses for the autumn term? If so, which ones?

I don't generally - these days they have them from the previous summer term if the weather's obliging, but going into reception - I wouldn't bother. Some schools have rules about what terms the kids are allowed to wear them too.

I got all mine bought mid-July - because the kids changed school just before the end of term (moved them then so it's not an unknown thing hanging over their heads all summer) so needed new uniform and there was more sense getting it all then than washing one cardigan in the new colour out every evening for a couple of weeks.
