Bilingual nursery and primary school - why not? SIAL school

Hello, I would just share with you my experience with our primary school. SIAL school is a private school in London, between Sheperd's bush and Holland Park. The school is very tiny and not really famous but in my opinion they provide an outstanding service. Classes are small, teachers are extremely engaged and the kids adore attending it. My daughter is convinced that Prince George is in the same school too because she thinks it is the best school in the world (Smile). The school provides English and Italian curricula, and in my opinion it's a big gift for the children. Costs are in line (slightly less) with private schools in the area. I would just suggest the school as an option if someone here is looking for this kind of school.

Hi Laura, I am currently investigating schools and as an Italian native Sial looked like a great alternative to regular uk school. I like the fact they deepen their knowledge on both systems but my main concern is will they be able to enter the Uk schools easily once they are 11? Also is the turnover among children high? Thanks so much for sharing your views!

Hello! I checked few days ago with the school and I found out that 100% of kids on y6 have been accepted to their first secondary option, someone with bursaries for merit. Honestly classes are small and they receive an incredible supervision. In the past years we had more turnover, mostly due to brexit issues, but as far as I understood now the majority of families joining the school are permanently living in London and most of them "mixed". Hope it helps, anyway if you have more question let ne know.

This is great! Thanks Laura. I do have more questions: what’s the level of parent involvement in the school? Where are the families from generally? I mean, do they live locally or from also other parts of London? Thanks for this! It’s such a big decision!

Hello, the parents community is definitely warm, we do have a parents association and hopefully we will hold more 'events' in post covid times. Anyway we use to meet a lot outside school events as well. Most of the families have Italian backgrounds but a lot of families are 'mixed'. A lot of us live in nearby areas (Holland Park, notting hill, hammersmith, white city) but someone is arriving from further areas (Hampstead etc..) . I understand your doubts! What age is your child? My second one will start y1 in Sept

Yeah we live in Acton and it would be not a long commuting (20/30 min with the bus I guess) but also not short (especially since I have another small one). My son is due to start reception next year, so unfortunately he’d be a different year! Thanks for all the info you gave me. I’ll def go visit the school and see what’s best for our family!
