Private assessment

Hello.
I am concerned about my 7 year old child. She is currently in Year 2.
I think she has dyspraxia.
There is a lot of behaviours and difficulties that make me feel she has this.
Unfortunately I'm finding difficult to get school to look into this or have this assessed. I think they are spending a lot of their resources on getting kids used to being back at school.
Where would the best place be to get her assessed.
Ideally I would like her to have a private assessment with an educational psychologist. Or if you have any better ideas?

Absolutely do it. See a clinical psychologist ideally - as dyspraxia can be linked to other conditions. If you’re in the south east / London message me for a recommendation x

Sorry I forgot to put in. Does anyone know a good place in the north west?

Our SENCO recommended a private educational psychologist to us who did the assessment in school.

I've spoken to school.
Because she isnt failing completely they dont think there is a problem.
But she gets a lot of support from home which i think is hiding the fact that she is struggling a lot and needs extra support.
Do you thi k it is worth asking school for a recommendation. I just feel that unless she is completely failing they dont think there is an issue.

Try searching www.achippp.org.uk/parents for a starting point. Ime most are very willing to discuss your child and whether they think they can help before taking you on. Expect to pay from £300 upwards. Dyspraxia Foundation also has useful resources but try not to prejudge the outcome of an assessment.
