Hey all...

So it's been a long whole year tomorrow since this nightmare began when Boris locked us down.

The heads and the teachers at my children's school have been phenomenal throughout it all and are a wonderful bunch of people.

I want to get them something as an acknowledgment of this and as a thank you.

As it is also Easter next week, I usually always get them a little something too , but this just feels like it need recognition as I
really am so appreciative for all they have done.

Any ideas please..

And thank you to all you wonderful teachers...

You all rock Thanks

Talk to school about what they are in need of, but a load of snacks for the staff room, and glue/pens/books for the library/something else school would benefit from.

Thank you

Is it better to ask what they need? If so, I will speak to the head tomorrow.

Teacher here. It's wonderful that you want to do something for the school, they'll really appreciate it.
Please do not buy them school supplies.
The most appreciated thing in a staff room (and you'll be the talk of the staff) is homemade food.
For example if you make a mean lemon drizzle cake, or samosas or sausage rolls etc.

If you don't have the time or skill for that, bought food comes second.
A nice card saying thank you with it and you'll make their day.

Teacher here - depending on what you want to spend, cupcakes?

Springingintospring · 22/03/2021 16:50

I wouldn't reccomend asking them what they want.
We have this occasionally, heads pass request onto teachers. Its effort for us to try and think of something and makes you feel like you have to ask for something for the children. When actually we have budget for them. It doesn't make us feel appreciated the way a nice slice of cake does.

Do teachers really want homemade food in the staffroom at the moment?

Each year group goes in for vouchers here.

BadMudda · 22/03/2021 16:53

Thank you for your replies!

I just want to get them a little something as a token of appreciation really. They've all been working relentlessly and with such resilience and compassion.
I'm thinking of cupcakes ( just need to find out the numbers) as I am an okay baker and a reasonably good cook but not confident enough to rock up with something homemade!

We would have them if it was individual rather than a big cake to cut up. Or you could make a box of cakes for each class.

I am thinking of a trip to M and S or Waitrose or somewhere like that , so nothing homemade given to them. Perhaps a few nice cakes to have with a cup of tea in the staff room may be nice.

We've had cakes that were already cut into slices which is great.
Cupcakes sound perfect.
What a nice lady you are!
