What do your primary aged kids take for snacks?

For morning break? I have no idea what other kids actually take. Is it just fruit?

Cadbury brunch bar Blush

piglet81 · 18/03/2021 14:33

They don’t take in snacks - they get given fruit/veg at break time, and a hot lunch.

Wowcherarestalkingme · 18/03/2021 14:33

Mix of fruit, soreen or a cereal bar

Wafflehouse · 18/03/2021 14:35

Either a small pot of blueberries, couple of crackers and cheese or a yogurt usually. They only get 10 minutes and it has to be healthy at our school. Although there are no rules on a healthy lunch. 🤷‍♀️

Same as @piglet81, ours are given fruit and veg at break time and then hot lunch if they want it. Even if you choose to send packed lunch with them, they don't need snacks as well at my dc school.

Woodlandbelle · 18/03/2021 14:35

Crackers or fruit

flobberdobberrr · 18/03/2021 14:36

I'd forgotten about Soreen, they love that!

Kellogg’s Fruit winder or a Barney Sponge Bear

Dizzywizz · 18/03/2021 14:39

I think all we’re allowed to send is fruit. My 8 year old doesn’t take anything, the 6 year old sometimes takes fruit.

whyhell0there · 18/03/2021 14:42

Annoyingly, the kids at our school eat their snack while out playing (don't get me started on choking hazards...), so it limits it in terms of containers, using utensils etc. I tend to make really cheap and easy oatbars in bulk, or when those run out it's usually crackers. Fruit's not usually enough for my kid.

Insertfunnyname · 18/03/2021 14:43

Only allowed fruit or veg so a banana or similar.

nevernotstruggling · 18/03/2021 14:44

A fruit bake bar - like a nutri grain but lidl.

I'm sure someone smug will flame me.

Bagelsandbrie · 18/03/2021 14:44

My son has 2 breaks at school (autism specialist school) as well as lunch so I usually send some fruit, a cheese type thing like a baby bel and a granola type thing and he picks what he fancies when from that.

LlamaofDrama · 18/03/2021 14:47

Rule at our school (made by kids on ther school council) is only fruit or veg. My Y6 DD takes dried fruit, usually mango. Sheer loves it. Others take nakd bars, many take no notice of the rule 😁

mediumduboir · 18/03/2021 14:49

Mine like to take fruit or breadsticks lol.

ILovemyCatsSoSoMuch · 18/03/2021 14:50

My DC used to take an apple to school... and back again. It could last a whole week of backwards and forwards before going in the bin.

They don’t take anything now and have never asked to or even commented on it.

ZigZagInToTheBeach · 18/03/2021 14:53

Usually fruit but sometimes cherry tomatoes, raw sugar snap peas, occasionally cereal bars, a hot cross bun once.

HazeyJaneII · 18/03/2021 14:56

At ds's school it is supposed to only be fruit, but ds takes a small oat bar or a packet of breadsticks.

Parkmama · 18/03/2021 14:57

Fruit
Crudités
Bread sticks
Pepperami
Cheese crackers & cheese
Rice cakes
Nature Valley Oat Bar

ChocolateHoneycomb · 19/03/2021 20:17

Ours had fruit provided until year 3. Since then DS1 takes either crudités, raisin box, babybel/similar, mini peperami, breadsticks. Small portions.

Sometimes ds refuses a proper breakfast- then I put a cereal bar in his bag as well. Mostly he hasn’t eaten it!

mulberrybag5 · 19/03/2021 20:43

Brioche and an oaty bar

cloudcett · 19/03/2021 21:27

Mine are only allowed fruit or veg too, so they usually take an apple, plum, pear, etc

SoWhyNot · 19/03/2021 21:32

School give them fruit but I usually send a babybel in as well.

MelvinEugenePunymeyer · 19/03/2021 21:49

School provide snacks. I think it's either fruit or rice cakes.
