Hi
my family and I have been considering moving to north wales, maybe the Bala area. My children are 8 and 6 years old. Just wondering how easy it would be for the children to pick up welsh, also how easy would it be for them to settle in. I am a curtain and blind making by trade and would like to know if there jobs in this area going locally. We have always loved the area and have had amazing holidays here ever since I was a child.
Thank you

It’s a lovely area.

There are English speaking schools and Welsh speaking schools.

It’s fairly rural, so I don’t know about business.

job 1

job 2

Difficult to know what description to put in for curtain maker!

I know this post is from a few days ago but I've only just seen it. We have family in Gwynedd though we live in England - I was under the impression from them that all the primary schools in the area are Welsh medium schools. Not sure about the secondaries as have no personal link. I wonder if looking slightly further from bala in other areas would help if you wanted to find bi-lingual or English schools? As a teacher I've taught lots of chn who have moved to England with no English. Playground language comes first and then academic language can take years to develop. I think the children would pick up some good Welsh to chat relatively quickly but it would be a challenge for them to learn in Welsh
