Does school give feedback on work submitted?

My Yr6 DD has received no marking or feedback on the remote learning work submitted other than a cut and paste ‘well done’ or ‘good work’

Does your school give feedback or mark the online work?

(Maths is marked by me from answer sheet provided.)

Yes we get comments on every piece of work submitted. And it's all explained clearly, and teachers answer any questions during the daily meets or online. Not bragging at all but the work given and the support from my sons school has been fantastic, couldn't ask for more.

We aren’t getting comments on every piece of work, some are just getting a generic “like” on the online platform used.

But having said that, we are getting constructive feedback where relevant, such pointing out where corrections are required or where DC have misread the instructions and failed to complete a chunk of an assignment. Plus some comments where the teacher has praised specific things.

DC1’s teacher is also doing a small class achievement assembly each week, where she’s praising examples of good work that’s been submitted that week.

Year 1 DS gets a 1-2 minute recorded message of feedback for maths and English and his teacher comments on what to work on in his next piece of work. Quite often it’s within a few minutes of submitting it!!
His teacher has also gone out of her way to send DS more challenging work and tailors everything to his ability. We’ve been very lucky with his teacher this year! Last year we used to get a simple “well done” !

How can the other teacher refuse to work? If she was shielding I could understand why she’s not in school, but she should be supporting the home learning.

I’m really hoping that things will go back to some sort of normality sooner rather than later. After school we are doing welfare calls and then prepping everything for the home learning packs for the following week. The majority of staff are absolutely exhausted and crawling to the end of term. I’ve got parents’ evening to look forward to next week too. 😳[/quote]
I don't know the details fully so assuming theres something else going on wit h that specific teacher and the TA is just gossiping and/or letting off steam.

To put this in perspective from a teachers POV. I am only in school one half day per fortnight looking after KW kids, the rest of the time I’m doing remote learning. I only have 16 kids in my classes (private school) and I teach 3 or 4 lessons each day, most with a half hour or so of live j out, the rest independent work. I comment on almost every piece of work. I start work the moment I’m back from dropping my daughter at childcare and I work until it’s time to collect her, with a short lunch break. I am barely keeping on top of my workload, and I’m usually pretty efficient. There is no way I could Mark double the number of pieces of work, which is what state school teachers will be needing to do, nor even manage what I’m doing if I was in school more regularly, which again a lot of teachers will be required to be. Marking on the computer, especially maths, is so time consuming. Not to mention, only about 10% of comments for improvements/corrections are actually actions by the children, so it feels like a massive waste of time.

My primary school is providing feedback on all kids work. Reception through class dojo and the other years via teams. My y6 dd is getting very constructive feedback from her teacher.

My ds is only reception but every time we have submitted online learning it has been commented on by both the teacher and the ta. Really lovely encouraging comments, sometimes tips to help with learning and generally very supportive of our efforts. I have a friend who’s dd is at a different school and she gets hardly anything. I’m very grateful.
