Hi,

We are looking to move from SW London to Reigate or surrounding villages and are particularly interested in sending our two sons to Reigate St Mary's. The connection to RGS is very attractive but I fully appreciate that it isn't an option for all children at RSM.

My older DS is 7 going into Year 3 in September 2021. Younger DS is 3 and would join their Kindergarten class.

I would love to hear views on the school and experiences from current parents and those local to the school.

Also it would be good to get a sense of the school's catchment. Do parents drive in from Dorking for example?

Thanks so much!

If your boys are academic then RSM is a good school for them. I have friends whose children have thrived there and similarly friends who have removed their children as they just weren't happy with the perceived academic pressure. Given that most of the children proceed to RGS from there if your child is one of the ones who doesn't it can have quite an effect on their self-confidence.

In terms of distance, as much as I love Dorking I personally wouldn't want to do the drive from there to RSM. Parking is an utter nightmare around there at drop-off and pick-up. Most of the children are local, but not all - you will find some children travelling in from further afield, but I wouldn't do it if you're juggling a separate commute for yourself.

If you're set on RGS and living in Dorking you could also consider Chinthurst. Similar distance but a (slightly) easier journey.
