Will all groups return on March 8?

My ds is in Year 2 and the headteacher letter said the school will have a phased full time return. Is it possible that some Year groups might go back after Easter depending on priority?

Nobody knows.

Anything's possible. I would imagine it would have to be staggered as schools may not have staff able or willing to return. I don't think any extra safety measures will be in place so then it will be a case of whether staff invoke section44 again as an unsafe environment and staff working from home as vulnerable may stay wfh. I cant understand how it's not safe now but will suddenly be safe on 8rh March. Most staff and parents and obviously no children will have been vaccinated.....

The numbers are coming down, but the hospitals are still full.

And first vaccines to the top 4 priorities continue apace.

So yes I think it is possible there could be some school re-opening before Easter.

Remember 8 March is a 'no move before' date, not the one where something will definitely happen

I hope years 11 and 13 are top priority

Year 2 aren’t likely to be a priority. I’m expecting Reception, Yr 1, & exam years to go back first.

There is no answer for this. Nobody knows. There are countless scenarios.
Just exam years
Nobody goes back
Everyone goes back
Only EYFS
Only secondary
Only primary
Return to tiers
Half school in on each day
One day a week

Anything could happen.

KeyboardWorriers · 31/01/2021 22:37

My guess is that it is incredibly unlikely all years will go back straight away

abitofpeace · 31/01/2021 23:17

Yes my feeling is early years, year 6 and exam years.

Why would early years come before year 2?
Genuine question, I have a child in both so intrigued to know the reason why

Only for childcare purposes since they need more parent's involvement apparently. The same thing happened after the first lockdown. Our year 1 daughter won't be going back in because we won't feel safe sending her.

Because that’s what the government prioritised in June.

I don't think early years is just for childcare. The curriculum is play-based and that just can't be replicated at home.

They are also going to struggle when the curriculum changes in Y1 if they can't read or write anything.

SpencerGregson · 31/01/2021 23:41

I really wish they would do a rota system - I have Yr R, Yr 4, Yr6 and Yr8. The Yr 4 is really really struggling at home and I am not sure how he will cope if two of his sibs return and he can't.

Yr8 is somewhat resigned to being at home forever!
