Guildford Prep schools - where to live

We've just lost our dream home which was walking distance to Lanesborough and Tormead for our twins. Do most children at these schools live nearby?

I'm a SAHM so have a bit of flexibility in terms of dropoff. Do many children go to those schools from Godalming? Where else should we look? We are coming from London so don't know the area terribly well.

Plenty of kids go to these schools from the surrounds, if the number of 4x4s clogging up the local roads are anything to go by. Godalming would be fine. Lots commute in to go to RGS/GHS when they're at secondary age too. If you don't work I'm not sure what you're concerned about?

Thank you! Am mostly concerned about children being isolated - too far away for playdates. I was hoping we could be somewhere on the Trainline so not driving in.

Yeah you'll see loads of RGS/GHS/Tormead kids on the trains, coming from Godalming/Woking/Farnham directions. The area of Guildford in walking distance of the schools is relatively small so most do commute at least some distance.

When my DDs were in Tormead Junior School (a while ago now!), girls were driven in from Camberley, Farnham, Witley, Cranleigh, Effingham, Woking and Clandon/ Horsley. I'm not sure from what age junior school girls usually travel on the train independently - I recommend that you check this with the school.

I know of senior school girls who travel on the train from Farnham, Camberley, Witley, Woking, Esher, Cobham and Horsley/ Clandon. A few also travel out of SW London (eg Wimbledon and Mortlake areas). Good luck with the house hunt.

Agree with @GuerrillaShoppa, the kids come from all over the area to all the of the Guildford Schools. When they're still young, it is all doable by car, however, my only recommendation would be to keep the drops off in the same-ish area. GHS/Tormead/Lanesborough/RGS (assuming from your post it's a DD/DS combo!) are all easily doable from any direction. However, if you start mixing it up with a schools on opposite sides of Guildford from each other, then it becomes a little more time consuming

All of the schools above are on the same side of the "Guildford traffic nightmare system" - so you just need to brave it once, or can avoid it all together if you come in from the East.
