Should I give consent for online lessons to be recorded

My DD is 4 and in reception. She has 2 daily online lessons with her teachers. Literacy in morning and maths in afternoon.
It's done via Microsoft teams and the teacher wants to record the lessons. She says it's because of safeguarding reasons.
Some parents had their camera off and was told they would be removed from online learning. For security the teacher needs to see who is behind the screen.

I thought she wanted to record them so they could be accessed later as a learning resource. Surely she only lets people onto the call with legitimate emails and uses password protection and locks the call once everyone is in? I don't get the safeguarding thing! What are we all under surveillance now in our own homes?

I'm afraid there are mocking edited videos of teachers all over Tik Tok.

I feel like we are. I much rather have all lessons cameras off. Over half the class doesn't even attend the online lessons.

It's a huge eye opener for me. I wasn't aware people are recording and later mocking and putting them online.
I know the recordings are being saved on Microsoft and are "for safeguarding" they are not to use for later teaching.

We’ve been told to record all lessons unless we have a second teacher in the call (almost never). It’s in case a child accuses the teacher of anything, there’s a video proving exactly what was said and done. We allow the children to make their own decision about whether to have their camera on or off. The recording is also useful if someone misses the live lesson as they can watch it back. I believe on Teams the video is saved for 20 days (or accessible for 20 days) and I assume the Microsoft have their data protected adequately. I imagine all sorts of companies have all sorts of sensitive data saved via office 365.

Recording is good practice. If there were ever any concerns, there would be a recording.
