Based on discussion in another area of the site.. If your child is getting access to a decent amount from their school during lockdown, please can you list briefly what they are covering today, per day. This way other parents whose children are getting little or nothing from their school, may be able to replicate some of it at home. Thank you.

This thread is for Year 3

Today was more about setting out expectations.

We had a video from the teacher outlining a typical day at school and sent us a timetable for reference. Also said that while they would like the work to be completed they understand if it isn't possible.

Sent over some work (videos with work) but it was an introduction so not a full day.

Work had feedback which was great.

Today: timestable practice, line addition and typing lesson (ict).we‘ll get a full zoom timetable from thursday, today and tomorrow are more filler tasks.

We get assignments through teams. Maths was PowerPoint of 4 x tables. English and reading had extract from book to read through and then questions. Spellings, science wa PowerPoint slide then exercise. Topic was light. Also ask to do reading and pe. I’m working full time so managed to do that in an hour after lunch. BBC are starting channels from 11th cbbc will be 3 hours for primary kids so this may engage a bit more.

DC wrote a letter to santa thanking him for what he received. He was reminded to use comas in-between listing the gifts.
He then went on to learn about different food groups and healthy and unhealthy food and their importance and he had to list his favourite foods and categorise them as either healthy and not so healthy.
He then chose a book to read, school has supplied plenty of websites where an abundance of books can be found but he prefers to read an actual book so he sat down for 15 minutes to read the BFG.
Finished off by practicing time tables and spelling.

justanotherneighinparadise · 05/01/2021 18:18

Our home learning proper starts on Thursday. We did have some worksheets to do and the online maths apps most schools do TTRockstars etc. The worksheets are about rocks.

EloraaDanan · 05/01/2021 18:21

We have absolutely zero to work off right mow except there will be daily assemblies to attend on zoom in the morning and keep an eye on Google classrooms because something will come through on there.

I sound like that parent but I have a child that won’t like waiting around and the uncertainty that brings and who struggles to learn at home, so I’ve been drawing up a timetable that will accommodate anything the school sends through tomorrow (hopefully) and getting activities from Twinkl/bitesize ready for her to work in on the time being.

Like everybody, I really could’ve done with more notice Smile

Lumene · 05/01/2021 18:22

Niece has had:

Live zoom lesson check in - introducing work for the day

3 recorded lessons on geography and maths.

Other classes will be added which are optional including dance, french

Stellaris22 · 05/01/2021 18:22

Maths was a revision of multiplication arrays and English was writing ambitious adjectives to describe a setting. Then an end of day chapter read by the teacher. But tomorrow will be a fuller day.

AaahWoof · 05/01/2021 18:56

Nothing.

Tomorrow we will get a 10 minute video call to check they're all still alive for safeguarding and a couple of "go do 10 minutes on timestable rockstars" stuff.

Posting because I think it's important the negatives ARE publicised.

Weepingwillows12 · 06/01/2021 09:43

We have been given a week lesson plan from school now covering Wed to Fri. There is a daily English and maths exercise to do then 10 mins a day reading, spellings, times table rockstar, abacus maths, nessy and read theory then 7 projects to be done when wanted covering science, geography, history, re etc. We have a daily registration zoom and usually one pre recorded lesson (often a story reading) a day. A lot of worksheets to print! No requirement to send for marking but welcomes pictures of what the kids do or struggle with.

Do you think your kids could read a grid timetable then go find the relevant worksheet on a website independently in your 3? Mine would struggle but I dont know if I should be pushing him to do it independently ....

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 06/01/2021 13:05

ohnothisagain · 06/01/2021 14:58

Today we did quite a bit of maths, the maths questions were written so DS had to work out what the equation was. He then went to create a graph on J2E. Last lesson was written work, he was asked a bunch of questions about his new year resolutions, his favourite day of last year, what is he looking forward to this year etc.

OdeToAutumn · 06/01/2021 18:30

Maths PowerPoint on adding triple digits
English was describing what you see, hear, think about and smell throughout the day.
There are then themed lessons through the week, stem lesson and then RE, Spanish and art.

All of this is google classroom with work uploaded then handed in and a comment given when marked.

No live or recorded lessons. I assumed there would be.

BananaDaiquiri · 07/01/2021 11:49

All of the above has to be handwritten and uploaded as photos back to Google classroom to be marked by the teacher.
