Hiya. I’m wondering what the difference between a Teaching assistant level 2 or 3 certificate is compared to a CACHE level 3 diploma? Many thanks

I completed the level 3 diploma back in 2014 so may have changed since then. In order to complete the level 3 certificate or diploma the college I studied through needed you to have either a level 2 TA qualification already or have other level 3 or above qualifications. For level 3 you also needed to be able to work in a school either paid or unpaid for a minimum of 15 hours per week. I have A levels which are level 3 so was accepted straight onto the level 3 course and I was offered an unpaid placement for 15 hours by the head of my child’s primary school. The level 3 certificate has set mandatory units of study, you can then carry on and top up to the diploma. The diploma has a number of extra units of study. Think I had to pick 4 extra units out of about 10 on offer. There was a lot of overlap between the mandatory units and the extra units that I picked so found that a lot could be signed off in one go. I completed the diploma in 9 months.

Thank you so much! I have my level 3 diploma already and wondered if I needed to do a TA qualification as well as, or which would be ‘higher’. Thanks x
