DD is "bored" at school!

Her words not mine. Every day she says she's bored but won't really elaborate. Had teachers meeting last week and they are really pleased with her. I drop her off every morning and spend time in the classroom, it seems like a lovely class. There's loads to do and she seems very popular.

Not really sure how to respond to her. I have tried talking it through with her but I am thinkng maybe the best thing to do is to ignore it?

Is she really bored or does she just think she's being clever saying that?

Hmm - tricky. Perhaps check the work isn't too easy/hard for her. Maybe sound out someof the other parents (out of dds earshot) Is it just your dd saying this?

Is there any bad behaviour in the class? Are they waiting for slow learners?

Will have a think...

She's only 4 so I'm wondering if she's "found" this word and doesn't really know what it means (IYSWIM).

Oh if she's only 4 then I think you're right. She maybe thinks she's very grown up saying it. My 4 year old dd has started using it when she really means she is tired and needs a rest...
She also says 'why do I have to do all the work?' if I ask her to pick something up she's dropped

my ds says they do "nothing" and it is "boring", but he loves going, bounces all the way there and seems quite happy - so I am ignoring the boring comments!
Does she say it off her own accord, or as a reply to you when you ask what she has done? It might been that she just needs something to say to you - and this came to mind.

My DS in year 1 is saying the same thing, but won't be pinned down. He'\s very bright in terms of vocab, interests and comprehension, but by no means freakily advanced in maths etc. I don't know what to do - think some of it is because all the stuff that isn't sitting down work (writing, maths etc) is stuff we've talked about a year or more ago..
Also it all seems so girly. If they're talkiing about nature it's flowers not snakes.. nnot that he's particularly into snakes but.. At parent's evening I mentioned it to his teacher and got an okay response - she said she'll monitor and work harder to give him challenging stuff - but do't really know where to go from here.
Scared he'll be put off the whole shooting match, or get bolshy, or that teacher/s will not realize that he's not puttig his hand up because this stuff is too familiar, not because he doesn't know..
