I am sure this was asked before but any thoughts on Kumon?
@midnightOK how does kumon help with the 11+? Is it just repetition - doing it again and again so the child remembers it?
Kumon just helps with mental calculation, not directly helps with 11+, but helps with improving your calculation speed and accuracy. For example, when you calculate 42+53, a kid doing Kumon might get the results in 1 second and a kid without any practice might get the results within 1.5 seconds. Kumon is just repetition. Personally, I don't recommend it and I think it won't helps with kids' logical reasoning at all. But it does help improving mathematics in some way.

I think ideally you need a combination of both: practice and problem solving questions. I moved to the UK for Uni so didn't do my primary/secondary education here. And i have to say, I think practice is really lacking from the UK math curriculum...lots of ppl I met at uni were struggling with basic math questions! my eldest was naturally good with mental math, but the second one is starting to struggle. Hence the question about Kumon/Singapore math.
