Is this to far to travel

Hi

Im looking to move 8 miles away from where i currently live..Dd’s school is a 5 minute walk away at the moment

The new house says it is a 17 minute drive away. Ive drove it in no traffic and with a good few red lights along the way and it took 14 mins so this could be longer if traffic is bad.

Changing my daughters primary school is not an option as she has settled in so well and made great friends I also work in the city centre so when i eventually stop wfh i will have to pass her school to get to work anyway

Im just used to living so close to work and school that im finding it daunting at the thought of having to travel alot further.

Thanks x

Have you done the drive when children are arriving at or leaving school? How busy is it then? What is parking like? How easy will it be for her to have friends over, or meet them in the park, compared to now?

No id say mornings will be fine as would be leaving early anyway.. my cousin lives close and she says the traffic is fine up until just after 8 but i would be leaving before 8 anyway..

On way home the traffic usually builds up from 4 ill be leaving to travel home from school at 3 so im hoping it wont be too bad but you never know

Parking at the house?

I do a 20 Min drive I the mornings. It's 2 miles. Fastest I've ever done within speed limits is 7mins. That's a mile to the edge of town, than a mile through town.

Parking at the house?

No, at school, for drop off and pick up.

What time will you be dropping her at school, if you'll be leaving home before 8.00?

I think you really need to try the journey at the times you'll be doing it if you live there.

Yes parking is fine.. my mum lives a 5 min walk from the school also and so does my daughters auntie whose daughters go to the same school so i would drop her there before heading into work

With me currently wfh i would wfh at my mums to save me travelling back to the house and then back again for school pick up

It doesn’t sound that far to me. I’d do it if she’s in Y 5-6 and settled.

If she’s only little, then I’d move her as it sounds a bit unnecessary to carry on like this for a few years.
