So says Alistair Darling just now...

What do they mean by 'new'? And 'local area'?
I quite like our 'old' school...

Surely they don't mean a new one in each secondary catchment? Maybe they do...

Yet again, the government thinks that new=good and that money=fixing.

May be its one of those - lets rename the crap old schools and all of a sudden people will think they have become much better - type things? Cynical? Me? Never!

Could well be. Unless they really mean new buildings? Will await more details...

It's probably buildings. They've already done a huge building programme for secondary schools.

From the BBC website:
"The Treasury said one extra school would be built or refurbished (my italics)in every local authority by 2010-11."
