Best place to get uniform bits for girls?

My daughter who is 3 starts nursery in 2 weeks and I thought they didn't wear uniform but they do. So I'm panicking.

Spoken to friends who have said aldi/Asda for T-shirt's and pants. M&S for shoes. Pe kit from supermarkets. Where did you guys get stuff that lasts from? How many pairs would you buy?

Asda and other supermarkets are good, I would stick to jersey dresses/trousers at that age rather than the stiffer fabrics, more comfy for playing in!

How many will depend how many days a week at nursery and whether you do washing inbetween? I would go one set for each day but if logo jumper then 1-2

Don't buy good stuff - it's going to get wrecked! Mine tended to wear the Asda jersey style trousers (nice and soft and easy to pull up and down and their relevant coloured polo tops (online sell a pack of 5 which basically stocked us up for the year). I doubt you're going to need a PE kit anyway.

Ours tends to be Asda as I can do an online order and click and collect - and I like their jersey skirts, pinafores and trousers as they don't need ironing.

Never ever fall for cute pleated pinafores - bastard to iron.

Asda has been my best go to for uniform for years always wash well and last long and price is good to 😄😄

What exactly is the uniform?

I tend to buy from Sainsbury's it's nice quality and lasts well. At that age I'd go with joggers and a polo shirt if I could. You can usually find plain grey joggers in the boys section, rarely in girls for some reason.

Asda for everything, their uniform washes really well and is cheap.

Shoes I went with shoe zone til they were big enough not to grow out of them in 5 minutes - 9 times out of 10 both my DC grew out of shoes before they fell apart so expensive ones just weren't worth it.

So I shouldn't bother with Clark's? A friend of mine coughed up 40quid for her daughters shoes. I wouldn't pay that much but I just want her feet to be measured properly. She has black shoes from Asda but complains her feet hurt. Not sure why. Maybe it's the fit. Thanks for telling me, I might not bother with Clark's. Not sure.

Also should I bother with getting anything with the logo on at this age? Especially the cardigan/jumper?

@faithfulbird you can get their feet measured in Clark's then buy elsewhere or buy a measuring gauge from their website and do it at home.

I wouldn't bother with logos unless they have the sew on badges you can buy from the uniform shop and just move from jumper to jumper.

My experience of nursery is that everything needed washing after every session so no re-wearing jumpers 2 days in a row so you'd need one for each day unless you have the washing machine and tumble dryer going daily.

At that age I'd still buy Clark's or Start Rite to be honest. I've had very few problems with them over the years and the one time I did, they exchanged them without a fuss.

Aldi uniform I found to be great quality but it came up a wee bit small (my daughters being skinny & tall). Aldi school shoes were excellent. Asda uniform great as well. They seem to do a great deal of kneeling so the shoes get trashed very quickly - nothing that doesn't polish up again but I wouldn't shell out for Clark's
The suggestion I would make is to get black or grey school socks rather that white. They come home looking like they've done a shift down the pit most days. Black socks have saved my sanity.

When ds was small it was jogging bottoms, logo polo/George polo and logo jumper. The nursery was relaxed with shoes so often trainers but i do like Clarks as although they grow out of them quickly they don't really wear out and are really good quality shoes. Nowadays, I do a combination of logo from school shop, George, M&S and Clarks/Sports Direct but Secondary is very different from nursery. You won't need pe kit at 3. Just relax, as long as your daughter is comfy and in the basic uniform it will be fine.
