Moving to Corfe Mullen

Hello, we are in the early stages of purchasing a property in Corfe Mullen, but need to find a school for my 5 year old, but also need to think about a potential nursery for next September , for my 2 year.
The closest school is Springdale First, however Rushcombe First is the same distance away.
Can someone please advise which schools are best in the area?
I have emailed the councils, as I understand they are under Poole/Dorset, but so far no response.
Any advice would be much appreciated, but also any information you think I may find useful, as I’m new to the area.
Thanks again.

Did you end up there in the end?

Dani2020 · 15/08/2022 17:16

I did and I’m loving it 😊

@Dani2020 amazing. We a thinking of locating from Bournemouth…but already have one at school so it’s tricky.
what’s corfe Mullen like with young kids?

Dani2020 · 15/08/2022 19:10

We’ve only been here 18 months, but my kids love it here. I was lucky and managed to get my child into the school I wanted, however I’ve since been told all the first schools are really good.
How old are your children? Mine are 4 & 7.
It’s difficult when your child has started school, however my eldest settled really quickly, it was me that felt bad moving him to a totally new area and away from his friends, however if you ask him now, he will tell you he’s pleased we did.

@Dani2020 thats amazing. Ours are the same age, almost!
what do you do at weekends? Is there lots to do?

pinkbunnylugs · 15/08/2022 19:26

@Dani2020 schools are our biggest worry as ours are happy

We take the kids to Corfe Mullen Rec, Springdale Park or Upton Park. My two love the Rec as it has a zip line and picnic tables with a bonus of free parking, plus a skate park. We also take them swimming at BH Live which is in Corfe Mullen, which also has a very small soft play and a cafe. The local post office has just opened a pottery section that serve milk shakes, which I’m yet to try out, also the local library do some events like Lego club etc, but not sure if that’s just during the holidays.
If your kids are into gymnastics, their is place near the leisure centre.

Thanks so much.
this has super confused me lol. I’m guessing it’s super easy to make friends etc

Dani2020 · 16/08/2022 08:37

To be honest that’s the only thing I’ve found hard was making friends, however you’ll end up talking to the school mums which help.
The other good thing about the area, is that you’re close to Broadstone which has another leisure centre with a soft play, Restaurants etc.
I totally get it’s hard moving especially with kids, but let me know if you need any further information

Thank you @Dani2020
we aren’t far away at all but don’t really know the ins and outs of the area. But you get way more for your money than where we currently are and it’s a bit more quiet & country-like.
