School Parking....RANT!!!

Sorry, just need to rant.

I drove to pick my son up from school today. I usually walk but I am unwell myself (waiting for a small op), my toddler has a terrible chest, cold, temp etc so as it was pouring with rain and a half an hour walk each way I decided to drive.

When I got there the parking was atrocious, lots of double parking, parking on corners etc, I could hardly get through. So, I drove way past the school and parked my car slightly on the kerb but leaving loads of room for buggies etc. Normally I would not do this and would carry on looking for a space but it was 3 pm and now my son is in Y4, they just let them out on their own so I was panicking.

I ran to the school and was literally 7 minutes. When I got back I had a £30 parking ticket.

I know it was inevitable but just needed to moan.

Thanks for listening!!

They probably lie in wait to catch you they certainly do around hospitals. They go ticket crazy around Great Ormond street you can see them literally slapping tickets on windscreens as people are unloading paediatric wheelchairs. Now I don't agree with unnec. driving/illegal parking but I mean really made me want to slap them.... (Not criticising you for driving but just waffling)

He's yr4 so old enough to walk a little way from school without crossing a road - just tell him if you're not at school to walk to a pre-determined spot and wait for you. Better still if a small group can do the same.

that really was a load of waffly rubbish wasn't it?

fortyplus · 03/10/2007 00:59

No - not really! I mean - it must take a special sort of person to be a traffic warden, mustn't it

Or just tell him to stay outside school for the few minutes that you are late. Won't school let him wait inside until you arrive? Our school will for the odd time someone is late. Even for yr6.
