Which maths app to build confidence before Y2?

Am overwhelmed by the choices - which maths app/programme should I pick for DC to practice on over the summer before Y2?

DC was exceeding in maths from the start of reception but somehow by Christmas of Y1 was barely meeting expectations and apparently lost loads of confidence as well as interest. The teacher wasn’t great (didn’t tell us, didn’t have advice when we asked) and report just says DC is capable of higher level work but lacks the confidence to try. Am scarred by failing to homeschool and hoping I can just pick one thing for DC to do 10mins a day to plug the gaps (confidence and knowledge) before Y2.

At the moment DC has Khan Academy app but I’m not sure how best to use it; they’re just going through early/basic maths quizzes randomly. The school uses white rose maths but we don’t have a home login; we do have a login for mymaths but can’t do the games. Should I keep going with khan academy or is it better to switch to IXL as it maps to the curriculum, or Sumdog, or something else entirely??

We use doodle maths. It works out your child's level and sets them targets accordingly. You can monitor your child's progress via a parent login. The child is motivated to do the work as they earn doodle stars and can unlock little games. Both our kids love the app and have made real progress.
I don't know how it compares to the apps you mentioned though as we have not used them.

We like maths seeds which is from the reading eggs people

I'm not convinced by apps. I would get the Yr1 CPG '10 minute workout' book and do one of those five times a week or so over the summer.

I work in a primary school I use top Mark's maths alot with the children I support

My DS used to love Mathletics, they have a free trial.

Thanks... doodlemaths has been recommended by friends too... more choices!

Raggiedolls if dc has already met expectations for y1 would it be too easy (and bore them)? I can see getting y2 might backfire if they don’t know everything yet but I want to tread the line between too easy/boring and too hard/off putting ..

My year one son really likes Carol Vordermans Maths Factor.

@wtftodo I think there's a lot to be said for confidence with maths at this age. Even doing the autumn / spring workouts that might be a bit easy will give him a boost. I think the later exercises will give you the chance to consolidate all the year one learning and check for any gaps in his knowledge.

My DS is very good at maths when you play games with him, get him to count in 5's or whatever in the car etc. He's not so good at reading the question properly and writing down his answers independently. I've found CPG amazing for working on this with him.

We like CGP as well.
They dont seem to do them for KS1, but ince you are in KS2 they also do stretch books, which are fabulous - no topics above the year, but more challenging questions and things to hake them think.

Thanks, have ordered that to give it a go and abandoned trying to find the perfect app! Appreciate all the advice.
