My dd nearly 5 has Noonan Syndrome
Baically she is very petite size of 2-3 yr old, has dreadful eyesight and is very vulnerable and accident prone and due to msucle problems can only barely jump and cannot yet run properly...
she has started reception in what we hoped would be a small caring school...
she has battered knees bruises all over her head but today she told me she had skipped rope..
I asked how as she has tried and tried before but kids always go too fast for her(she needs a truly stationery rope) and she told me her buddy friend a yr 5 got all her friends to do a slow rope and dd skipped all lunch break
I could weep and infact did...
kids can be so so so fabulous

How lovely.

As a salt for people with SN there is one school I work in that melts my (horrid cynical old) hart.
At breaktime, kids are queueing at the SN unit to take the children out to play and one lunchtime I watched two gilrs spend half an hour patiently throwing a ball at one of the little girls from the unit.

So unbelievably tender and patient and respectful.

That's so lovely. There's a little boy at dd's school with quite complex problems learning difficulties, hearing, sight. I was so touched at sports day- every time he did a race (it was all team based, so they "needed" everyone to do well) all the kids from all the teams were cheering him on in a way they didn't for anyone else.

Piffle · 28/09/2007 22:49

yes dd often falls or just plain wlaks into large hard stationery objects, the teachers say they have to cut through swathes of pupils helping her
this school only has 80 kids
I never made such a right choice in my life but this one is perfect!
