Reception - expected reading level

I have a child in reception. Obviously with lockdown, most of this academic year has been missed. I dont have any other children to compare her to but what oxford reading tree level or singbird stage are they normally expected to reach at the end of reception year? All the different levels and phases and stages are somewhat confusing!

My 4 year old (nearly 5) reception child has just moved on to green books (ORT). No idea what the rest of her class is on.

Mumsnet is full of child prodigies Wink

One of Mine finished reception on pink books (level 1?), by the end of year 1 he had jumped 9ish levels to gold. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Hi. We started with simple words like
In
It
Be
Do

Then tricky words like
Are
The
They
Said

Then focused on cvc words.
Pop
Cat
Tin (mine can read all cvc words now and most tricky)

We are getting their with 00 and ee sounds
Food.
Noon
Foot
Book
Cook
Weed
Seed

We are fine with sh and ch
Sheep
Shop.
Chip.
Shell.
Chop

I find writing words in lists and putting a smiley face helps too.

We often do themes and we talk and write down our list of beach words
Sand
Sea
Shell
Sun etc

This seems to motivate her. I have no idea how far she should be but she's doing quite well. It's hard without access to books.

Have you done phonics play with her online? My child loves it.

Can I honestly say, it really doesn't matter. My ds started in YR, and could barely recognise letters. He slowly picked it up and, at the age of 13, is now a vociferous reader. He reads a couple of books a week, and I find it a bit of a challenge to keep up with book buying.
My DD started in YR being able to read very well, and raced through the book bands. By the end of YR, she was a free reader and was working her way through chapter books independently. She's 11 now, in Y6, and very much in the middle in terms of reading. She'll read books for homework, but only because she needs to. She's nothing like the bookworm type that I'd hoped she'd be!
