Our teachers (yr 2) and school are doing a fantastic job sending out lots of different work. A themed project each week (recycling, celebrations etc) links to SPAG and maths learning and weekly spellings.

I must look like I’m not doing much as it’s hard to get my ds with ADHD on board.

Between constantly taking work calls and looking after a very clingy 2 year old we’re doing what we can but I must look like a slacker a bit Sad.

He has a full time one to one TA in school and I just can’t offer that at home (never mind the fact I don’t have the skills of a TA anyway!)

Out of interest, how do you teachers know how many children are engaging with learning?
We do some of the school stuff from their website and a lot of our own stuff. How would the teachers know?

We ask! Work can be uploaded onto our learning platform, that way we can mark and comment on it. Some parents do this, some don't. Some parents prefer to do their own thing, use workbooks, 11+ practice etc and don't upload for marking but each week we ask parents to let us know what they have done and what they found tricky. Of course, they may be lying!

Out of my class of 31, 26 are uploading work daily. But we are very lucky that we are using Teams which makes this very easy to track. This is primary, lower KS2.

Interesting.
Are the majority of schools having that much two-way communication?
Ours puts up some links to worksheets, but no marking/feedback. Hence my question about how the school knows.
Our teachers have rung to talk to the DCs once, but it was a nice "how are you" without any conversation about school work.
I do not envy teachers now or in September. I know that they are used to differentiating within for example a maths concept, but some DCs have completed the curriculum and done extension work with 1:1 from parents, some have done nothing and most are somewhere inbetween.

Around 75% but it varies (less on fridays). It's easy to see on Google classroom. Some children mark work as turned in and say they have done it in their book but don't send a photo. I suspect a few of them are just clicking turn in though. All work is commented on or gets a quick thumbs up if it was very simple/self marked. Those that don't do any get emails/ phone calls/ support offered. My own kids go to a different school and they use a different platform but get plenty to do and feedback given. However talking to dds teacher it sounds like she is doing far more than many of them.
