Schools reopening

My daughters school will reopen on the 1st of June and plan to send back. I just received the school schedule and glad to say they will be doing their normal learning, albeit at a distance.

Monday to Thursday is 8:45-3:15. However on Friday the school will run from 9-12pm.

Luckily my 4 year old is well behaved so can still work after pick up.

Just wondering what other school schedules are like?

Ours is only taking Y6 and it will be PT.

StrawberryJam200 · 26/05/2020 18:40

The clear Fri afternoon will probably be for a deep clean OP

mymadworld · 26/05/2020 18:45

If only we knew! I'm a childminder and have a families wanting to send their children in between school hours but I can't confirm my working hours until I know school times (they said last week it will be timed slots between 8:15-9:30am and 2:30-3:30pm for pickup so quite a variation!)

Junglerum · 26/05/2020 19:06

Ours is the same - the early finish on a Friday is to deep clean and to give the teachers chance to send out online work to those who aren’t in school

purpleme12 · 26/05/2020 19:07

Ours is the same as well

Dinnertime22 · 26/05/2020 19:28

The school for mine is not opening until the 15th for y1 and no date for y6. The lack of communication is shocking.

dchange · 26/05/2020 19:29

Great. Sounds aligned (mostly)

Teachers' PPA time too.

GolfForBrains · 26/05/2020 19:44

(Sorry, as in, teachers are entitled to PPA time and normally someone else will cover their class. That's not really possible under the current arrangements, so all the teachers will have their time at the same time when the children aren't there.)

Boringnamechanging · 26/05/2020 19:59

Open 3rd, planning on doing the same work as sent out online. Max 10 in classroom. Staggered drop 8:45-9 pick up 2:45-3:15.

Small school, 3 classes (nursery, r12, 3-6) I believe 3 out of 58 children returning.

MarcelineMissouri · 26/05/2020 20:03

Ours are opening from the 8th. Haven’t seen any detailed plans yet other than they will also be finishing at 12 on Fridays..

TheGriffle · 26/05/2020 20:05

Ours are refusing to open as our mayor strongly advised against it.

dchange · 26/05/2020 21:23

@Boringnamechanging only 3 returning?

OP posts:
Boringnamechanging · 26/05/2020 22:52

Yep 3 children going back. Obviously some of the 58 will be in years 2-5.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 26/05/2020 23:06

I could cry. Desperate to get kids back to school and I'm stuck in shit hole prisoner cell block wales.

CoronaIsComing · 26/05/2020 23:13

We don’t know yet other than they won’t be back until at least the 8th June.

myself2020 · 27/05/2020 06:56

Year R, 1 and 6. Approximately 8:30 to 15:30 (minus 10 minutes for reception to allow staggered collection )

myself2020 · 27/05/2020 06:58

80% of kids returning. the ones who don’t return are either shielding, have shielding parents or live quite far away with siblings that can’t return yet.

Magicbabywaves · 27/05/2020 06:58

R, year one and six for all week with options to do 3 days if you want.

midnightstar66 · 27/05/2020 07:02

This is our normal school hours anyway so everyone here is used to managing Friday afternoon childcare. I'm in Scotland and in August dc will only go back part time and have home learning allocated the rest of the time. Working in school myself and a single parent, I've no idea what that means for me childcare wise

ifonly4 · 27/05/2020 15:07

Staggered arrival times depending on year, keyworker and new classes for teachers own children. There's are a high level of staff that can't return and not enough class space, so only Year 1 are returning on a regular basis and Year 6 on a two weekly rota (ie no reception). Fridays are closed for a deep clean and so staff can concentrate on remove learning. I've said all along I can't see the school taking back more than 30% at a time.

Sallycinnamum · 27/05/2020 15:15

My year 6 DS goes back next week just mondays and Tuesdays.

He is keen to go back and most of his close friends are also returning.

The school were quite clear weeks ago that once parents had said no to their DC returning they couldn't change their minds. Apparently they've been flooded with year 6 parents now wanting to send them back and now can't.

admission · 27/05/2020 21:34

Which is a school doing their own thing and not following the DfE guidance which said set year groups to return, full time and assume that all pupils will return.

The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) has published a paper showing models for nine different options for getting pupils safely back into the classroom. The DfE have ignored all advice
