Do you think it would be out of order to ask dd's school to get her semi skimmed milk?

She absolutely hates full cream (as did I as a child) so won't drink her milk in the mornings. I guess she could just have water but I would prefer her to have milk really. If I sent it in in her water bottle would be all warm and yucky by break tho...

Will they just tell me to eff off? (she has just started reception)

I think it's an excellent idea. Who needs full cream milk? You could ask!

CD, if your school is like ours, the milk will come from an external provider, so perhaps if the school won't allow this you could go via them.

Alternatively, I once forgot to pay for ds1's milk (once they're 5 they pay) on time, so I had to send milk in with him, and they had a fridge where all the rest of the milk was kept, so I just labelled it with his name and class, and they gave it to him. Seemed to work ok.

speak to them and see if you can send her in with a little(shop bought) plastic bottle of milk(1pint/ 1/2 pint)and a strraw?

In some schools they give out semi- skimmed as a matter of course, for all children past nursery and reception.

mini cool bag to send it in in? never seen one but maybe they exist?

or freeze milk bottles and defrost from previous night so that it's just about ready at break time - but defrosting milk is tricky, it should be done slowly or it goes a bit weird

Oh good
I will ask first
and if not maybe I will get a little thermos to keep it cold and send in

Thanks all

There is a shop near me which sells bottles with a frozen "core" in them. I think it is aimed at kid's water bottles. That would keep it cold until break time.

Most schols don't automatically give milk now-with all the allergies etc, so they should have asked if your dc wants it. If not, the kids can bring in juice/water/squash in their own botttles, so a bottle of milk should be ok, if you ask it to be stored in the milk fridge.

Yes, out of order to ask them to provide it as the milk usually comes in little cartons in a pallet.

However not out of order to buy your own (if you are really struggling to get a little carton there is always McDonalds and send it in.

I shall be doing the same next year with lunchtime squash, asking to send in our own full sugar or pure juice instead of artificial sweetener stuff.
