Are all independent schools in England reopening on 1 June?

Just that really. Would love to know what your children's primary/prep schools are doing and if they have communicated why!

Ours (through school) is not opening. It’s been taking keyworker children from week 1 but it closed earlier than the state schools and I think it’ll stay shut til September. We have had a 20% fee reduction and have a full programme of distance learning via teams. Both my DCs (yrs 6 and 9) have just carried on with work as normal, just at home.

Our prep school is opening for the government specified year groups.

They wanted to open to all other years on 15th June ( having the benefit of small classes and large facilities would have enabled this) but they will not be insured unless the government give specific approval for the other year groups.

Our independent SEN school has never closed as all our children are extremely vulnerable and all the children have been in. Admittedly we are a tiny school KS2 - KS4 but we are unable to social distance due to the nature of our children and size of school. Initially staff were anxious but now we don't really think about it to be honest.

Ours is for R, Y1 and 6, then after the 15th partial reopen for Y10 and 12. They hope to get as many kids back for the other years as the government allows. About 40 key worker children have been attending throughout, and the boarding house has kids that couldn't get home. The rest have full day online lessons.
