About how they will manage the return to Yr 6 if they go back 1st June.
They are pretty much following guidelines to the letter, namely:

15 max in a class, stay strictly within that bubble of 15.

Social distancing enforced as much as possible.

All children to have their own allocated classroom equipment which stays with them all the time.

Learning to be done on individual Ipads using the app they're currently using for home learning. If they have a question or need feedback they ask the teacher (or LSA if that's their adult in their bubble) and the teacher looks at their work on the app and responds that way.

Playtimes will be in a marked out area on the playground, children will have PE equipment to play with by themselves, they must stay within their designated area.

There's more but those are the main areas we discussed. It all feels so...joyless. I know they have to do it, I just cannot decide if that is better for my DS than staying at home with me. I'm not working, handed in my notice at the beginning of all this. He's happy, well motivated to learn, enjoying his own little projects, but also having way more screen time than usual. Also there's the transition to Yr7, they've said they won't be able to visit but I still worry that it will be a massive shock if he's not had any schooling.
I'm just posting my rambling thoughts as I don't feel at all clear about what's best.

I’m in with key worker children. It’s nice, they do sone work on line, we all chat and play games - inside and out. Try to distance as much as possible but not to detriment of kids (injuries and stuff) no tears any days. I’d be happy to send in mine, just for social interaction with other children.

We have a year 6 dc

Our school have not yet said if or how they will return but it won't be before 8th June

We were asked if we would want the place and have said no. Our other children are at home and I am furloughed.

That seems to be part of the problem, schools are all interpreting the guidelines differently (because the guidelines are not specific enough to be helpful in my opinion) so we won't have a consistent approach anyway. Just from this thread, Some have children playing in their own individual bubble, some like mine have the bubble all together but playing individually, some can take stuff in, some cannot, some have no play equipment etc. I really feel for the schools who are trying ti navigate their way as best as possible with very little or no support.

Naturalblonde that sounds nice, I hope that atmosphere continues for your school when more return.

I think Local authority schools are getting advice and help from their LAs. They are not on their own and neither are academy schools. There are other staff helping to advise. Of course schools have different size buildings and differing challenges. The government cannot help that but there are diocese education boards and all sorts of advisers working with schools on this. Of course some schools prefer to plough their own furrow and that’s up to them.

Our LA has to authorise the opening action plan to ensure all risks have been considered. If we have missed something we will need to revisit it and can't open until it is authorised. I would assume others LA's are doing the same?
