Good way to learn tables?

My DD, age 6 is struggling with tables and we are only on 3+!! Tried singing them off but she forgets too easily. Anyone know any good resources; books, CDs, games that might help?

What about a pairs game, write the sum on a piece of card (without answer) write the answer on another piece of card, turn them over so they cant see either of the numbers, This can be started off with just 5 sums and 5 answers, gradually add or change. If they manage to get sum and answer correct they win a point.

We made flash cards and just did them little and often with dd. They finally stuck when she was about 10! 6 may be a bit young - does she understand about multiplying? My 6 year old doesn't really - and I'm not going to do tables until he does.

BTW - for the future, when you're learning tables keep going up to 15. My dd found this hugely helpful for the 11+ and gfor maths generally.

I've earmarked this an d this site fo when my y2 ds starts learning them.

I think initially I will start parrot fashion and we also have a poster to go in his room. They don't seem to teach them like that anymore, but parrot fashion deffo works and sticks.
