How did everyone get on? I hope people got the news they were hoping for?
My son got our first choice, I was so nervous to open the email. I literally cried with happiness. It's the best school by far out of our three nearest and by far the best place for him. Feels very real now.

Thats right @Headache87 if you don't accept the offered place then the LA has no further obligation to you. You can go on the waiting lists for other schools and if a place becomes available then you'll release your 'accepted' offer.

Accept the offered place. If a place comes up at your preferred school, you'll be offered it. Similarly, if a parent at your preferred school wants a different school, they will be on the list, so if they get offered a place at their preferred school, they'll accept it, which frees up a place at the school you want.

You're right that if everyone accepted their place, the lists wouldn't move, but some people will have applied for private school too and will turn down their offer, some people are moving house and will turn down their offer, some people would rather home school than take their offer, some people will win their appeals at other schools and take that instead, some people just don't understand the system and think if they click accept they can't stay on waiting lists... The lists will move!
