I think it might be a bit too adult for a 10 year old. Probably I would look for books suitable for their age or look at online resources for children.

I’ve bought it a few times and would recommend it for 12yo+.

I don’t like the way it tries to give modern headlines and article titles to historic events. Like “Where the Great Fire of London Started. Are the Bakers to Blame?”.
Oh dear...

At that age I’d get a few Horrible Histories DVDs and enjoy them together.

There’s a Horrible Histories magazine, too IIRC.

There's nothing inappropriate and they're very much aimed at the generalist rather than the specialist - they're far less in depth than older magazines like History Today.

But they are aimed at adults and I think that the average 10 year old, even one who enjoys history, would find them a bit boring. Maybe buy 1 copy and see what your dc thinks of it.

There's also National Geographic Kids and First News (a weekly newspaper for children)

Another recommendation for First News!
Or The Week Junior Magazine.

There's a whole list of kid friendly news sites on the Guardian.

EH does a children's magazine which my DC love. HH is a good call. On TV they like Back in Time For... and Lucy Worsley.

Look at these publications and decide for yourself! You know your own children.

Occasionally something inappropriate, a few months ago I had to cut out an article about historical sex toys before it made it into the school library!

I wouldn't say BBC History magazine is inappropriate for a 10-year-old -but there might be some content that requires further explanation or simplification. This page has lots of age-appropriate magazines for primary and secondary pupils, and I'd recommend The Week Junior, First News, National Geographic Kids and Aquila.

I wouldn’t say it is inappropriate but most 10 years olds would find it quite boring and a difficult read as it is definitely aimed at adults. I’d recommend History Revealed magazine which is much easier and less wordy
