Accepted a place at a school but not paid- can we still back out?

Good evening all-
We were planning to move back to the UK this summer and subsequently got a spot for her in a lovely private school and turned in the signed acceptance form. We haven't paid (deadline is end of this month) and have had to put off our move for now due to all the uncertainty resulting from covid-19. Are we still ok to cancel the place? I do feel so badly as we loved the school and were so looking forward to next year, but naturally I would prefer not paying a deposit I already know I won't get back.

Thank you for your assistance!

You should be , normally it is deposit to secure the place plus a term's notice. However you may find there is no place there should you move in the future.

If you have not paid and not signed an agreement saying anything longer than one terms notice, you should be ok. Fingers crossed.

Usually 1 term’s notice, just get in touch to cancel/delay the place ASAP.

That should be fine....our private schools are a term's notice and you're paying that.

Should be fine. A place isn't usually seen as secured until the deposit is paid so contractually you'll be fine. The question is if you are happy to lose the place permanently.

Thank you all so much for your feedback. I will contact them and let them know and just be honest. Probably not the best time for them at the moment but we are in crazy times!
