Long shot on Crouch End schools : Coleridge v Rokesly

DD is starting at Rokesly in a couple of weeks time but we have just been offered a place for her at Coleridge and must let them know by midday tomorrow if we want it. In a way we are very lucky because they are both goods schools but I am feeling completely torn. It is generally accepted that Coleridge is a better school but it is further away from us and expanding to four form entry. My daughter is also all prepared for Rokesly and doesn't always react well to change. Any views on either of these schools?

Rokesly has fantastic new head who is doing great things at the school and will really make a difference. I'd be wary of upheaval at Coleridge during its expansion to 4-form entry. Also C will be on split site (with busy main road in between). C definitely more middle-class - if that bothers you and quite a few people move dcs from R to C because they think academic standards are higher there. C wins all the netball matches!

Sorry, should say Rokesly Junior has newish head. R is split into infants and juniors with separate headteachers. Coleridge is primary under one head. Rokesly Infant received outstanding ofsted recently, has had all its classrooms updated with wonderful play area at the back.

Thanks, grassland. Do you know what sort of things are changing at Rokesly junior?

DD is only little at the moment but unless something bizarre and dramatic happens developmentally, there is no way she'll be any good at netball!

I'm now in a similar situation. I have 2 children at Rokesly and have bizarely been offered a place at Coleridge for them both in September. My eldest will be starting in the juniors. They are both very happy at Rokesly but we keep hearing how amazing Coleridge is. I know that the academic standard is better at Coleridge. BUT I'm sure that is because of all the tutored children. Now we don't know what to do. I can't help but feel we are getting caught up in middle class hysteria.
