Ds made me cry earlier

After I had put my ds to bed and read him a story this evening I laid down on the bed with him and we started chatting about "big boy school" as he starts reception in a couple of weeks.

He was really excited, telling me about all of the things he is going to do and learn. Then he says "mummy I'm going to tell you something...what if nobody likes me?" OMG I had the biggest lump in my throat. I have been quite together about everything until now but I am a mess this evening.

Please tell me he'll be ok and the other children will be nice to him. They are so vulnerable and young

Might have to go and get some more wine xx

Oh that is so sad, I'm sure everyone will love him x

He'll be OK, I promise xx

Oh! So sad. (this whole going to school thing is making me so emotional. DS is 17mths )

He sounds like a lovely, thoughtful little thing.

I agree - everyone will love him and no matter what he'll come home to you every day and know that he means the world to you.

Thanks Aly, I really hope they do. I was always the kid at school that nobody liked, didn't really make good friends until uni.

He is such a sweet boy and he is definately ready for school, I just don't want him to have any worries xx

Oh Scotslass your story brought a lump to my throat.
He will be great, and make loads of friends.
Children really are beautiful and vulnerable aren't they.

scotslass, I was the one without the 'best' friend too (although not unpopular) until older - my poor DD (7) is just the same, I'd love her to have a best buddy but she says shes happy drifting.

I'm sure he'll be fine, as I know my dd will be (going to prep, so some new girls in class) but it doesn't stop the worry does it - especially if (socially) school wasn't the best for us.

Thanks for being so kind everyone, I thought I might be told off for being wimpy

Aly your dd sounds like a beautiful free spirit. It's great that she has a lot of confidence in herself xx
