My DS is in reception and is learning to read and write. Please could I ask for ideas for little things we could do to make it more fun and get odd little bits of practice in without it becoming a boring chore?
My ideas so far:
I sometimes hide a chocolate coin somewhere and then write him a note saying where it is. If he can read the note then he can have the chocolate. I do struggle a bit to think of easy to read hiding places, but so far "in your welly", "in the lego box", "in my yellow boot" etc have worked well.
He has a list of chores he can do for a sticker, and one of them is something I make up off the top of my head. I've had him write a short sentence like "Mortimer is a silly cat" for a few.
I think he'd love discovering that he can tell me something without saying it, but I can't think how to make this a game yet.
Anyone have any similar ideas?
