Moving to Oxford

... possibly next summer with kids who will then be starting year 4 and year 2. Thinking of living Osney/Botley cos of Matthew Arnold catchment for secondary and being close to station.

Does anyone know which primaries we're likely to get offered? If we'll get anything vaguely decent? If we'll get places at the same school? We are catholic so does that give us more/better options?

V anxious about it all. Any tips v gratefully received!

Unfortunately it's not at all unusual in Oxford to have children in different schools, although the population is relatively transitory so there is a lot of movement.

I don't know that area particularly well but the most likely are Botley Primary or West Oxford (if you're in Osney). St Aloysius is on the Woodstock Road and is Catholic although that journey wouldn't be for the fainthearted. If you go on the county council website they have a list of all schools and their catchment areas, including previous allocation data so you can get a sense of where might work.

Just bear in mind that Oxford traffic is utter hell at school run times. Personally I’d give you and your kids’ daily sanity a much higher priority than worrying about the school religion.
