Good prep schools in the South West

Hi all, we are moving to the Bristol area later this year and DC who will be in year 2 has some additional educational needs. We are keen to find a small independent school who will love him and support him to achieve the best of his potential. He is actually pretty smart and not so sporty. Any recommendations? Some friends from Gloucester area have suggested Wycliffe or clifton college and although have said the right things on the days not sure if they are definitely good as I can only find limited stuff on sen support online. We are flexible on location as DH travels a lot anyway. Thanks in advance!

I don't know how close to Bristol you need to be, but my DH, who has some dealings with Prep schools, has just been saying how great Farleigh are with boys (DH only meets the boys) who need some extra support.

My suggestion for a small independent school in Bristol would be Clifton High school which is down the road from Clifton College.
They are both definitely good for pupils who need additional support.

Agree with your friends that you should consider Wycliffe: two of DS' friends went on there from specialist prep for dyslexics and are doing well.

Thank you all, someone has suggested westonbirt prep which looks really pretty but not sure what to make of it. I also read some rumours of closure.

If you are considering the Bath area, Monkton Coombe school has boarding facilities.
Does Westonbirt have a junior department?

Monkton Combe is great. Lovely warm atmosphere.
