Worried about pupil premium

My just started reception DD's school have just released their latest PP impact reports. My DD is a pupil premium child because I had to give up my job because of her little brother spending the first two years of his life poorly.

DD also has a speech disorder (but an amazing vocab and sentence use just very hard to understand).

The data makes me really worried for her. I am a recent university graduate and am building up a CV to return to work in a more single parent friendly field so I'm not stupid and I value education.

So my questions are.. how do I stop her being a PP characteristic? What can I do to best support her learning at home? We read several times a day and she does extra curriculars such as ballet/tap and swimming but what can I be doing at home?

We read several times a day

You are doing it. Much better than most of us manage. (We read several times a week but I’d struggle to manage several times a day.)

The other thing that has a big impact on a child’s chances is the mother’s level of education. And you have a degree.

She’ll be fine.

PP exists because children from poor backgrounds statistically don’t do as well academically as children from richer backgrounds. The school is given extra money to support those children. But some children eligible for PP do very well academically - it’s not a limit on their capabilities.

Parental education and reading at home are good predictors of childhood success at school. I’m sure your daughter will be fine and if she’s not, you’ll support her.

Take the positives - you may well be eligible for help paying for school trips or clubs or extra tuition (schools I’ve worked in have offered some or all of this to PP children).
